Wallachian Peasantry

"We know at least that a small category of free peasants survived up to the beginning of our period: the răzeși in Moldavia and the moșneni in Wallachia. This may or may not prove, as has been argued, that all peasants were originally free and were only gradually reduced to servitude by the boyars." ~from page 62 of The Struggle Against Russia in the Romanian Principalities.
I'm quite inspired to draw Wallachian peasants and their colourful garments. I think they were the backbone of the two Danubian principalities and the most tax-burdened subjects of all. Yet they keep toiling, working, and producing the many staple foods and clothes that were required from them.
